Pocket Casts: Podcast Player App Reviews

Ive had multiple podcasts that would just stop retrieving new episodes until I noticed and deleted/re-added them.

I use Casts on different platforms and it works beautifully. However I noticed that the iOS version has not been updated in a while. Please add the Apple Watch companion features.

Love this app. Syncs simply between iPad and iPhone. I hardly miss my favorite shows anymore!

I was so tired of Apple turning iTunes into crap, and not caring about fixing bugs. Ive tried several other commercial podcast apps, but deleted them all. Pocket Casts is the only app at the moment that lets you selectively download each episode, of all podcasts you subscribe / listen to. What the hell is wrong with the **other** podcast app developers? Who wants to stream podcasts 100% of the time??? Who wants every podcast episode automatically downloaded????? I dont! Give the user the ability to download the episodes they want, when they want. This is what the developers at Shifty Jelly did. I would have paid a lot more for this app, if needed be. It does it all, and more. I cant thank the developers enough. Please keep up the great work. I love this app, Im a podcast junky.

Most of the good reviews are from 2014, when this app was last updated... Coming from Downcasts, I cant believe how limited in functionality this app is. It is in desperate need of an update as it will randomly delete my episodes and sync never works. The only thing that this app has over the others is that its nice to look at. Please, update it. Its been way too long.

I love this app, and use it multiple times every day. As a "heavy" podcast consumer there are a couple of missing features that continually frustrate me, including (in order of importance to me): 1) an easy way to see *my most recently played* episodes (because I often cherry pick old unplayed episodes to catch up with podcasts that Ive just started following, and if an episode finishes playing before Ive had a chance to favorite, share, or rewind it then its a *huge* pain to scroll way down the chronologically-listed-by-publish-date "Played Episodes" list) to try to find that episode; 2) an easy way to see descriptions of the podcasts to which I am already subscribed (because some of their names, logos, and individual episode descriptions dont provide enough information to remind me about why I subscribed four months ago on a whim, and some are just hard to keep straight when you have so many tiles being displayed); 3) an easy way to mark older episodes that I want to listen to soon- but not right now (the Next Up queue is a nice idea, but functionally problematic for this purpose; my current workaround is to download all old episodes that Im interested in hearing soon, but there are obvious drawbacks to this method); 4) an easy way to see the entire episode titles, either selectively or as a permanent setting, rather than truncated versions; 5) an easy way to bookmark, tag, or add short comments to episodes (preferably at specific times) as searchable notes for my own use or for the purpose of sharing (right now I have to keep a running list of notes in Evernote, which is tedious and inefficient); and 6) a way to rate and then see aggregated episode and show rating info...to help me decide which of the 10,000,000 unplayed episodes I should prioritize downloading and listening to. Cause there are only so many hours in the day, and this medium is exploding!

This is a great app. The syncing across devices is fantastic. The only thing I wish is that there was a dark theme.

Love the look and performance of the app in regards to accessing podcasts, but I switched to this app for the Chromecast audio support. On that front it could improve. I wish there was improved continuity between devices and when youve been away from a device. The app doesnt do a good job of refreshing/reconnecting to the Chromecast at current playback location. If it was as smooth experience with Chromecast as Spotify has built, or even remotely close, itd be a five star app.

Reliable, well-featured podcast app that lets me access my podcasts no matter what device Im using. Thanks, ShiftyJelly! Also the recommended podcasts are great quality! Please add iPad Split View or At the very least Slide Over support

Other than the sync features, this app feels just like a skin over the native podcast app on iOS. There still is no good way to create playlists of episodes. The Up Next feature is lifted directly from the native app. I fail to see how this was worth my $4. If the App Store allowed trials, I would have never paid for this.

A wonderful cross-platform podcast app. I have recommended it on multiple occasions and will continue to do so. Please add 3D Touch support in the next update.

The only thing missing from this app is the ability to raise the volume on your podcasts. Downcast and Overcast have this feature but I would definitely make this my choice app once it is added.

Just a fast and snappy podcast app.

Of all the podcast apps Ive used this one is by far the best looking and simple to use

Pocketcasts lets you listen and organize podcasts the way you want. Unlike Overcast it doesnt force you to stream all or download all. Good features: subscribe without downloading, speed up playback, visually see all your podcasts, Up Next feature, Skip Ahead (brilliant!). Negatives: 1. Way too easy to clear "Up Next" list. 2. Hijacks playing audio process when you open app or add items to Up Next; other players dont do this!

Starred podcast episodes dont sync from phone. No updates about current bugs for a year and a half?
