Pocket Casts: Podcast Player App Reviews

After a few weeks of use, Ive gone back to Downcast. To many missing features I liked about Downcast. First review below: As a long time Downcast Fanboy, I think may found a replacement. Im really liking the interface so far. Will update my review as I tinker with it some more.

Pocket Casts is more frustrating the longer I use it. It will turn on randomly, which is a real drag. This is been happening for several months. Its very hard to sort the "Up Next" list, and the layout & usability just need re-vamping. It really takes too much effort to use this app. I just again lost my whole Up Next queue, for the umpteenth time, inexplicably. I have a brand-new 6S, and I really dont have any of these kind of problems with other apps. So Im done with Casts – just too frustrating.

I love this app but Im starting to notice it isnt totally baked yet. The app wont play the podcast when I press play, its just stuck and I have to close the app, reopen and still it wont play. And two, the sync feature across devices (Web, iPhone, iPad) wont completely sync, the podcasts I dismissed in one device appear again in another device, so I have to dismiss them again. This didnt happen in the beginning. The app obviously has potential. I will give 5 stars when these issues are resolved

Please add CarPlay integration

The app is beautiful and very useful, but is very sluggish. It really makes it hard to use.

Sync does not work. Keeps downloading duplicates of every episode. Fix this.

I want my money back, because free podcast players work better, and this program has major hangups. For instance, sometimes the program will stop playing after one podcast instead of running through the playlist.

I bought this app because it supports chromecasting; I gave 2 stars mainly because this functionality is buggy. 1) the app cant control the speed of chromecasting. 2) When I kill the app in background, the chromecasting doesnt stop. 3) occasionally, the podcast plays on both phone and chromecast. (I have the latest chromecast.) Overall, I still love this app, hopefully I can get the update in the future!

Good app, does mostly what I need it to do. Online and cross platform support is handy. But lack of updates and no reply to my emails.

There is no way to find podcasts according to when you played them, requiring manual searching through long lists if you want to reply old podcasts. Sounds small, but I find it really annoying.

This app is not only easy to use, but also easy to personalize. Great searching features, makes it easy to find a podcast by name, channel, URL, category, top podcast rankings, or featured podcasts. This app also minimizes your currently playing podcast to the bottom of the screen while you are maneuvering thoroughly the app editing settings etc, also making accessible to pause/ return to the player at anytime with one tap. Great app! Great accessibility!

The app is relatively buggy and almost never updated. This caused me to lower my review to two stars.

Sync with their web service is pretty broken and it seems like development has stopped.

So much greatness about this application.

The app has a nice design. There are many areas for improvement but the developers clearly arent working on them as the app hasnt been updated in over a year. Worth looking elsewhere for an app with consistent support.

Refined, easy to use podcast manager. Only missing feature is audio leveling.

Bought this app across multiple platforms because it has been a favorite. But lately auto downloads work about 25% of the time. Otherwise its just a qeued list waiting to download all the time. Contacted support with no answer.

Best ios podcast app Ive used. Just one request. The ability to set podcasts to auto update the artwork for each new episode.

Does what it says and works well but this app is abandon in the longer being supported. It would be nice if they added an updated interface such as list view as the (small or large, thats your two choices) boxes look cluttered on the main screen. No update since 2014!
